Even today, there are many arguments against the resurrection of Jesus. They say that the story is not true. But for the believer, much evidence is found in Scripture to support the resurrection claim. The post-resurrection appearances of Jesus recorded in the scriptures confirm the resurrection. Jesus appeared to many people at different times after His resurrection.

Jesus the logos

To Israelites of Old Testament times, God’s word was more than something written down or spoken out. It was something active so that when God expressed His will, that will be carried out. God spoke, and it was done (Genesis 1:3; Psalm 33:9; Isaiah 55:10-11 ). By His active word, God created the universe (Gen 1:6,9,14; Ps 33:6 ). God’s word had such life and power that people thought of it almost as if it were a person – God’s living agent or messenger (Psalm 107:20; 147:15,18 ).

Fruit of the Spirit

The Gentile Christians in Galatia had believed the good news about Jesus when Paul evangelised them. But some Jewish false teachers had visited them and taught the Christians had to obey the Jewish laws. These laws controlled people. Some of the Christians in Galatia believed the false teachers. Paul was very worried about the Christians. So he wrote this letter to teach them the truth again. He reminded them about the true liberty that Jesus gave.

The 12 called

Jesus’ work was already becoming heavy. He has started preaching and had many people following Him already. So urgent was the need that Jesus decided to appoint twelve helpers immediately. These helpers were first to become companions for Jesus, then he trains them to become heralds of His message.

Come and see

John the Baptist was the forerunner of Jesus who had preached repentance to the people and baptized them. Before the inception of Jesus, John had already won people’s hearts. He knew his work and the boundaries and acted the same without any form of jealousy and envy. Before the ministry of Jesus, John has already established himself with disciples following him.
