Christ is Risen

Date preached April 18, 2022

1 But at early dawn on the first day of the week, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared.

2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,

3 but when they went in, they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus.

4 While they were puzzling over this, two men in dazzling robes suddenly stood beside them.

5 While the women remained terrified, bowing their faces to the ground, the men asked them, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is living?

Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day.’”

6 He is not here but has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee:

7 ‘The8 Then the women remembered Jesus’ words.

9 They returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven disciples and all the others.

10 The women who told the apostles about it were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and some others.

11 But what they said seemed nonsense to them, so they did not believe them.

12 Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. He stooped down and saw only the linen cloths. Then he went home, wondering about what had happened.

Very early in the morning after Sabbath, the women came to the grave. They had prepared spices and they had come to place the spices on Jesus’ body.

The women were with Jesus in His ministry and supported Him throughout His ministry. While on the cross, the women were there with Him and are now the first to rise up to attend to Jesus.

The women had discussed among themselves who could move the heavy stone from the grave (Mark 16:3). But there had been an earthquake and an angel had rolled the stone away (Matthew 28:2). So, when the women arrived, the grave was open. The women went into the grave but Jesus’ body was not there.

Instead, two men stood there. The clothes that the two men wore shone like lightning. They were angels. The women were very afraid. And they fell down with their faces to the ground.

Jesus had spoken about His death and that He would rise to life again (Matthew 16:21; Matthew 17:22-23; Luke 9:22; Luke 18:31-33 ). The women remembered that Jesus had said this. Why do we not see the power of Christ but continue to look for Him among the dead? We seem not to understand the power of Christ and so do not fully appreciate His divinity and triumph.

The women must tell the disciples that Jesus had risen from death. Jesus would go before them to Galilee and there they would see Him.

🔷 Women are not substandard human beings and are not created inferior to men. They are full persons and partners in the work of Christ.

🔷 The resurrected Christ is the triumphant Lord who is able to do all things when we believe in Him

🔷 Every success story begins in the dark. Dark days should not despair the believer, but rather encourage them that victory is near

🔷 We must send the message of the risen Lord to all people without any further delays. This message must be preached to all persons

💥 Thank God for the Son Jesus Christ
💥 Pray that you will be able to send the message of the resurrected Christ to other people
💥 Ask that every dead progress should resurrect in the name of Jesus

If we believe in the resurrected Christ, He will teach us His ways and grant us victory in all. Send this message of Christ to all.
