Never Be Discouraged

  • Rev. Bright Mawuena Nfodzo
Date preached March 24, 2022

16 That’s why we are not discouraged. No, even if outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are being renewed each and every day.

17 This light, temporary nature of our suffering is producing for us an everlasting weight of glory, far beyond any comparison,

18 because we do not look for things that can be seen but for things that cannot be seen. For things that can be seen are temporary, but things that cannot be seen are eternal.

Paul encouraged his readers never to be discouraged about anything they faced in the world. His troubles affected his body. In the end, they would cause death. But as his body got weaker, his spiritual life got stronger.

He could see with his eyes the weakness of his body. But he knew that his spiritual life was growing. His troubles would help him to reach eternal glory. That would be much greater than his troubles could ever be. The troubles showed that nothing in this world would last.

One surest way to be renewed is to have a close relationship with God. We can do that by reading our Bibles (thus taking our daily devotions more seriously), and joining congregational worships as well. Join the choir or the band, or other fellowships to share God’s word with other people.

Paul turned his attention to the unseen things that would last for all time. What comes from God is everlasting.

🔷 God refreshes our spirit and renews us each day even in our troubles

🔷 We must have a stronger bond with God and renew our relationship with Him daily

🔷 Fellowships will help us overcome our troubles and direct our life to glorify God

💥 Pray for God to strengthen you in all situations
💥 Ask God’s favour for someone who is troubled

Our current sufferings are small and temporary when compared to the unseen glories that we would experience.

Maybe, my brother and sister….. you are just too worried. Take a moment to think about the glory that God gives you.
